Growing pains impacts the lives of as much as 40% of young children.  When a child suffers from growing pains they will often describe experiencing either an aching or throbbing pain in their back or legs.  In most cases the pain is diffuse and radiates into the long muscles of the legs.  Most children will describe growing pains being worse in the late afternoon or into the evening.   Growing pains can be very intense for young children.  It can impact their ability to play sports, relax at home or even enjoy a good night sleep.

My name is Dr. Mike Schultz (Burlington, Ontario) and I have been helping children who struggle with growing pains for over 20 years.  Pain is the body’s internal alarm system that goes off to let you know that there is something going wrong on the inside of your child that needs to be corrected.   Simply ignoring the health issue or masking the symptom with drugs may lead to worsening health issues down the road.  It has been my experience that growing pains is, in reality, a form of pediatric sciatica and is something that needs to be address, and the earlier the better.

At our office we focus (scope) on dysfunctions or disorders arising from the structures or functions of the spine and the effects of those dysfunctions or disorders on the nervous system.
