Chiropractic Treatment of Ear Infections

How do you Treat Ear Infections?

When a young mother asks us to treat her child’s ear infection, we have to explain one thing: we don’t treat ear infections but instead apply manual techniques to correct the functioning of the rest of the body. In other words, chiropractors work with the nervous system via gentle spinal adjustments. All systems of the body (muscular, digestive, glandular, respiratory, circulatory, hormonal, eliminatory and immunological) depend on the optimal function of the nervous system. Therefore, when we need to correct a particular system we manually address the right part of the cerebrospinal axis, which is responsible for its proper functioning.

Which one to choose?

Being experienced chiropractic therapists, we always let parents decide how they would like to treat their children. There are lots of options like visiting a pediatrician and getting prescriptions, trying allopathic, naturopathic, homeopathic treatment or acupuncture, or just sitting and waiting. The latter is recommended by many reputable pediatric associations and health centers instead of going for antibiotics. The evidence-based research about antibiotics is showing that not only are they ineffective at treating ear infections, but they will actually lead to repeated ear infections in your child.
It is so important that you as a parent realize you have choices, and the right to make these choices for your family. Regardless of the choices you make, the chiropractic approach will improve your child’s inherent ability to function. We will assess your child’s spine, make the necessary adjustments to improve nerve system function and offer lifestyle suggestions to reduce nerve system stress for your child.

Chiropractic and Ear Infections

The spinal cord is divided into zones that regulate the functioning of different body systems and organs. The zone that regulates the work of the ears is located in the neck area. Not infrequently, ear problems occur due to spinal misalignments in this area. This may cause adjacent muscles to overstrain, press on the spine, and disrupt the functioning of the Eustachian tube. Particularly, misalignments may cause the middle ear to accumulate fluid and air.
Dr. Schultz is a skilled and experienced chiropractor that can correct such flaw and free the spine from the strain. In turn, this will release the clench on the Eustachian tube and drain excess fluid and air.
The neck area of the spine also regulates the functioning of the immune system. It means that misalignments may stop the system from fighting ear and other infections. As we can see, spinal misalignments lend a double blow and therefore must be dealt with immediately.

Chiropractic and children

This kind of therapy can make your child feel better in general. Because children’s bones are more elastic, they respond better than those in adults. Some issues can be detected in babyhood and corrected immediately. There is a great deal of feedback from children and their parents testifying to dramatic improvements, which they have observed after seeing a truly devoted, conscientious and skilled chiropractor.
